Spy Surveillance Equipment

Not according to Civil Libertarians. Many civil libertarians understand the virtues of the widespread deployment of spy surveillance equipment, but they worry about the unintended consequences of turning our society into something out of George Orwell's 1984. Civil libertarians worry about spy surveillance equipment being used for social control in ways that unwarranted by the constitution, about evidence from hidden spy surveillance equipment being misused in court (which has already happened), and about people's private information being misused wrongfully or illegally. Their concerns are noble and well-founded. The challenge, though, for the upcoming century, will be how to strike a balance between the benefits of using spy surveillance equipment, and the detriments of a spy surveillance equipment flooded society. Only time will tell...
There are some measures, however, that can be taken early on to make sure that the use of spy surveillance equipment is properly managed.
